Rawon Abah Pangat

Overview

If you're in the mood for a heartwarming, flavorful meal, Rawon Abah Pangat should be on your list of places to try. Located at Jl. Raya Sedati Gede, Dabean, Pabean, Kec. Sedati, Kabupaten Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur 61253, Indonesia, this cozy diner offers a traditional Indonesian dish with a modern twist, making it a must-visit for anyone craving authentic flavors.

Rawon, a quintessential East Javanese dish, is a rich and aromatic beef soup that’s known for its deep, dark color, primarily thanks to the use of keluak (black nuts). At Rawon Abah Pangat, they serve this dish with a special recipe passed down through generations, ensuring each bowl is packed with flavor and history. The broth is perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of spice and umami, creating a savory experience from the first spoonful.

What makes this place stand out is not just the food but the way they prepare it. The owners have perfected their methods over the years, making sure every serving of rawon is consistently delicious. The beef used is tender and cooked to perfection, and the keluak gives the broth a slightly earthy flavor that complements the spices well. It’s the kind of dish that feels like a warm hug on a cold day-comforting and satisfying.

Their menu goes beyond rawon, offering a variety of other Indonesian favorites that perfectly pair with the hearty soup. Whether you’re a fan of nasi goreng (fried rice), sate (skewers), or a simple plate of steamed rice, there’s something for everyone. However, it's the rawon that continues to steal the spotlight. Served with a side of sambal (spicy chili paste) and crunchy crackers, it’s the perfect balance of textures and flavors.

For those visiting for the first time, you’ll quickly notice that the staff at Rawon Abah Pangat is friendly and welcoming, creating an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The space is simple but clean, with a no-fuss ambiance that makes it an ideal spot for a casual meal with friends or family.

In terms of location, it’s easy to find and well-situated for both locals and visitors exploring the area. Sidoarjo is known for its bustling streets, but this restaurant offers a peaceful escape where you can enjoy a meal without the chaos of the city. Whether you’re stopping by for lunch or dinner, you’ll be met with a warm meal and friendly faces.

What’s great about Rawon Abah Pangat is how they manage to maintain authenticity while still evolving with the times. They’ve built a strong reputation, with many regular customers returning because of the consistent quality of the food and the warm, inviting atmosphere. The diner has a loyal following, and the positive reviews keep pouring in, with many praising not just the rawon but also the overall dining experience.

In addition to the regular menu, they often feature seasonal specials, so it’s always worth checking in to see what’s new. While the classic rawon will always be a favorite, their rotating dishes show that they are keen on keeping things fresh and exciting for their guests.

When it comes to customer experience, the word of mouth has been nothing short of impressive. Many visitors mention the cozy ambiance, the flavorful food, and the friendly service as key reasons for coming back. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time guest, you’ll feel the passion and care they put into every meal.

The food was nice. I didn’t really enjoy the chicken floss but the rawon was amazing. Staff didn’t speak any english so we had a funny exchange.

The place is quite small i guess, but the rawon is delicious, the salted egg was taste great, im not in too the tempe, sorry and unfortunately when we arrived there, there was only original rawon available only..the other menu was sold out. The parking lot was spacious.

They offer plenty of menu options, which is a great start. The food is delicious, and the meat is incredibly tender!

the taste is unique, the meat seasoning is like a semur seasoning and the rawon sauce is separated, I ordered nasi rawon campur, it contained dry fried tempeh and it was really delicious, there was shredded chicken but it was more like shredded hehehe, there's tofu, bean sprouts and chili sauce, oh yeah plus an egg salty. Btw kuah rawon it's a good taste

The soup is quiet strong, taste original Rawon. Beef is good, original, and soft.you wont got any stuck on your teeth. However the kecambah is not much, not good for healthy balance diet. The spiciness is middle tend to not spicy, i would not recommend for spicy lovers here. Place are located inside the squares, on the back and corner northeast. Good for family dinner
